Welcome to the Chowdhury lab! We are a behavioral neurobiology lab in the department of Biology at Bucknell University. Our research explores the basic foundations of sleep and how it can shape behaviors. Using fruit flies, whose sleep stages mirror our own, we are investigating how poor sleep alters behaviors like aggression and courtship. While the proximal goal is to decode how sleep safeguards healthy social behavior and identify conserved mechanisms, the overarching goal of our lab is to understand how internal states affect external choices.
